Industrial Cart~French Enamelware Collection

Good Morning All~Hope you had a wonderful weekend junking! Something we all look forward to every weekend! You just never know what you will find! About two weeks ago I went to The Scott Antique Show in Atlanta with my friend Carol. We had a wonderful time looking for treasures! I bought quite a few things, and This is my absolute favorite! A 1920's iron shopping cart! Love it!! Baskets and all. I have a thing for Baskets, and just about anything made of old metal!! The older, rustier, crustier the better!! Above it is an antique marriage license found for cheap! I have noticed after blogging for a couple of years, I have never shown much of my kitchen collectibles! One of my favorite things is my french enamelware collection. I don't believe I will ever get tired of it. Such a clean vintage look! I love old canisters, lunch boxes, tall body pitchers, bread boxes....

Utensil racks, watering cans, salt boxes, etc..I have been collecting for at least 14 years! I have sold quite a bit over the years too! Always keeping what I love the most! I don't like to overdue my displays.....

Keeping it simple to me, makes more of a statement! Be sure to check my Ebay listings from time to time...I sell under the name Cottage-White.... I have a few things listed. you may want to take a peek!

Less is More~Dining Room Changes~

It's beginning to feel like fall here in Ga! The cool crisp air feels wonderful compared to the awful humid summer we had! Now we can enjoy doing more outdoor activities, like painting furniture, getting stuff out the storage buildings without dying of a heat stroke! More estate sales, auctions, etc.. I have been trying not to keep as much stuff as I have in the past....

Just keep what you absolutely love, you will know what to keep and what to sell. Listen to your heart! There are some things you just don't sell. The hard to find treasures! I love ironstone, alabaster, brown transferware, great primitives, french enamelware, old victorian mirrors, etc..

My dining room is one of my favorite rooms....I thought you might enjoy seeing some pictures of some of my collections. I love visiting all of my favorite bloggers and seeing what you like to keep!This last picture is what my dining room looked like one year ago this month!! Less is definitely more! Just so the rest of the stuff has a place to go! LOL My wedding cake topper collection made it's way to my cupboard in the bedroom, and I downsized my ironstone collection, and basically moved things around, and sold a lot of my pottery collection to make room for what I loved the most!

Bathroom Makeover....Finally Finished!

For the past two weeks we have been super busy remodeling/painting/redecorating our master bathroom! A few minor things left to do, but pretty much finished! I could not be happier with the results!

I decided with a very light grayish color, forgive me, I misplaced the paint swatch, or I would share the paint color with you...I have wanted to downsize for the longest time, so I have taken out any large pieces of furniture for this bathroom! I have been downsizing a lot throughout my house, and let me just tell you, that less is definitely more!! Keeping just what I absolutely love and selling everything else! If you recall, I did have a huge white wall cabinet hanging in this corner, no more! I love the simplicity of just mirrors, especially my fav, these beveled frameless ones with old chains!

The last thing left to do is to put all the doorknobs back on, and maybe one more coat of paint on two of the doors, that's all. Since the one door on the right opens against the wall with this door header, I am left wondering if I should hang a picture or mirror above it, what do you think? I am liking the simpleness.....

I have had this chippy white/grey mantel mirror for a long time now, I truly love it, but let me just say that finding a better spot for it, makes me love it that much more! All silver accessories displayed on it, looks wonderful! Don't you agree??

Hot Days & Cool Finds!!

Let's just say the weather here in Georgia is down right scorching HOT! No relief in sight! The only thing to take your mind off the heat is finding some cool stuff! The estate sales and yard sales have picked up tremendously!! Why couldn't they be better in the fall and winter?? One of my finds is this great antique silver tray, displayed behind some seltzer bottles... I have more than enough trays, but for 5.00 I love it!

A few small trophy's added to my collection displayed across the mantel. I have a passion for antique silver trophy's. I don't think I will ever get tired of them!

Most things I have found lately has been going to my booth. I try not to keep a lot of stuff, like I have in the past! I have been meaning to open an Etsy shop too, maybe soon, we shall see.

One of my favorite finds is this awesome antique frame found for only 2.00 I added the old wedding photo. Isn't the detail on the frame just wonderful? It has urns with flowers on each side! I have never seen another one like it! I love collecting antique frames! How about you?

For the past 2 weekends I decided not to go to any yard sales. We have been doing a lot of remodeling, painting, downsizing, etc..but on the way home from taking things to my booth, I thought why not stop at this one estate sale and see what is left! I am so glad I did! I bought this victorian mesh little purse for 35.00 She was asking 65.00! I have started a collection of antique purses and these are my favorites! Continued Bedroom Makeover

Well....There were a lot of yard sales and a few estate sales today. It was a full day of

adventure, digging through junk, and well, let's just say it was definitely slim-pickins!!

I found some things for my booth, but only a couple of things I kept for myself. Not much

to share, but I did want to show you the rest of this guest bedroom makeover!

I really love this front bedroom that no one uses, it is just a guest bedroom, my getaway!

It has been painted this same green for years, and have grown to love it. Why I ever

decorated with vintage pink stuff with this color green, is beyond me! I love the cream color, with tans and black mixed in. There isn't too much in this room that I would change now. I do believe I am happy with it....for now! The things I love for this room are old black and white framed pictures, vintage suitcases, silver trophy's, antique crochet, and mostly old alarm clocks!

A bedroom makeover in progress.... I brought most of my vintage alarm clocks to display on this corner cabinet.... with other fun to collect treasures! Added a stack of vintage suitcases for displaying a vintage hat form, etc...

BEDROOM MAKEOVER WITH A LITTLE BURLAP & RUST

A corner cabinet filled with tarnished silver, early 1900's ladies
shoes, black and white cabinet photos, vintage jewelry, and old cameras
sits in the corner of the guest room....that's if we should ever have guests,
you all are more than welcome for a visit!

I had the pleasure of setting up with my friend Carol for
an antique show last month. It is a lot of hard work with loading
and unloading....but the fun part is buying and swapping with the
other dealers, that's where I found these fabulous vintage shoes,
I traded with another dealer and got three different pair!! Love
them! Now I have shoes for displaying my vintage rhinestone shoe clips!!

I love this rusty wire basket that I acquired for all my hard work
helping my friend Carol with the antique show last month! It sits
with my antique dress form with another rusty plant stand with
tea-stained roses!

One corner of this room with creamy beige furniture, except
for the oak dresser that I wish hubby would get rid of!! How is
it that a man would care so much about a piece of furniture?
It will be sold, if I have anything to say about it!! I am trying
to make the best of it for now.
And the best for last, I just love these burlap pillow slips
I found on Etsy. The next thing I would change out would be the bark cloth curtains, maybe some burlap or tea-stained crocheted panels....we'll see. For now, I hope

Estate Finds~Antique Wedding Photos

Today I thought I would share with you all my estate sale finds for this past weekend. A stack of suitcases, that look great stacked as a side table in my bedroom next to my favorite
dress form. Just what this corner needed, it was a little boring to me before. Love it now.

This is something I don't find all the time. from the estate of a 90-year old lady. This house was

packed with great finds, this was one of my favorites, 5 large antique black & white wedding
photos!! I LOVE these...They are gorgeous, and look awesome with all my vintage cake toppers!!

Some close-ups, love the lace veil and the gorgeous flowers! What it must have been like in those days, very romantic!!

Good Morning! Today I want to get your opinion on what color I should paint my master bathroom, adjacent to the master bedroom. I can't decide if I want a cottage white color, a very light light aqua, a neutral coffee tan, and antique grey color.... I would love to get your input...I am all ears!! Everything in this room is white, glass, silver or black! I want something that
will compliment the decor! Right now the walls are a pale yellow, the same old
boring yellow since 1998!!

Recently I purchased this wonderful burlap shower curtain on Etsy! I just LOVE it!!

Inside this huge wall cabinet I have all my vintage perfume bottles, antique brushes, old glass jars with buttons, lace, antique mirrors, etc..I love anything vintage that is silver or glass with some ornate in design. I am loving the clean simple look of no color!

Another fun find were these great old clocks found at Scott's antique market in
Atlanta! Love how they look on an old silver platter! So tell me, what color
would you think? I would really like an antique grey color.....

~Bedroom Makeover~Recent Finds!!

Hello Everyone...I know it has been a while since my last post. I just can't blog as much as I would love too! So today I thought that I would share with you what I have been working on!
My bedroom makeover...No more pink pillows, floral bedspread, pink vintage accessories, fake flowers, so no more shabby chic pink! I have always loved more of an antique french Victorian look anyway. There are so many inspiring blogs out there to encourage you to find your style!
Well, I have found mine. I love most things Victorian and ornate in design. Silver trays, ornate
antique frames, silver trophy's, antique garden treasures, rhinestone jewelry, and dress forms!
Paris trophy on a sliver tray, Thinking of replacing these purple flowers with
some pretty white roses...just thinking...

No more pink floral hats hanging over my headboard.
This antique crocheted tablecloth looks much prettier!!

Just one of my favorite recent finds on Etsy.com is this wonderful
burlap pillow cover...Love It!!

Out with all the pastel McCoy pottery, Kept just the white pieces,

I brought in all my vintage cake toppers from my dining room,

I love how they look behind glass doors! Pretty!

Some recent finds...a vintage style crown for my favorite dress form, and

a wonderful old rusty iron plant stand, I just added tea-stained roses!

Here are some before pictures from the past year....
I am so loving the new look....out with the old and in with the new!! No more hats, just about sold them all, just a few more to

list on eBay. Let me know if you collect them. I am selling

most of them for only 20.00-25.00 each. They are really pretty!

What Is This??

Hi all. I know it has been a while since my last post. I will post again real soon. Lots of great finds in the past month! One thing I found today, which is very interesting! I found this, what looks like to be some sort of bottle stopper. It also has what looks like a coin slot. It is at least 75 years old or older! It is cast iron or heavy steel, It has engraved H and R manufacturing. Anyone that has an inkling of what this might have been used for...I would surely like to know! Thanks for any help!

Laundry Room Makeover *** In Progress..........

Today I want to share with you my laundry room makeover...

I decided it was time for a change. Since the laundry is right

beside my dining room, I wanted it to somewhat compliment

each one. Keeping with shades of white........Old battery jars,

filled with antique lace, vintage white buttons, old door knobs,

etc...One of my favorites is this vintage little dress with crochet.
Antique enamelware laundry set...old clocks.....
Old jars for laundry soap, fabric sheets, old lace, displayed

on an old silver tray! Love using an old silver baby cup for a scoop!
Never enough lace and buttons....so charming!
Saving the best for last, is my favorite antique doll head

under a glass cloche! Still a work in progress...I want to

paint the walls, but haven't yet decided what color. I hope

you all are having a wonderful week. The weather has

been crazy here....cold one day and hot the next! I will be

happy when fall is officially here, temperature wise.

My Living Room * Burlap Curtains

Hi Everyone! I know it has been a while since my last post. I have been

very busy! Lots of awesome estate sales, lots of junkin', rearranging,

closing out my booth, and selling more on Ebay and craigslist!!

I have been trying to sell more than I keep! So I am listing more

on Ebay. My seller name is now just "Cottage-White" Come see what

I am showing you all pictures of my living room, now that

I finally found me some burlap curtains!! Yeah! I was about

to order some from Ballard Designs, but held off for just a while

and to my surprise I found these at an estate sale for 40.00

for 8 panels!! What an awesome deal, huh?? I'm happy!!
I love how everything comes together now, with the old

silver and chippy white! Enjoy the pictures, and I am off

to list more things on Ebay! Who knows what i will be selling!

Oh how time does fly! Has it really been a month since I

last posted? What have I been up to lately? I been taking

lots of treasures to my booth, enjoying spending time

with my wonderful little family, cookouts, and birthdays,

and lots of yard sales/estate sales! I wish I could show you

some new recent finds I have kept for myself, but lately

I have decided not to keep too much! Above is a picture

of just one of my favorite things to collect...tarnished silver!

Never enough white ironstone, been selling my not so fav

pieces at my booth. I am thinking of selling on Ebay again!

We'll see...maybe open an Etsy shop too! Lots to list!

A cool find from back in the day, when the pickins were

Estate Finds~~Simple Changes

Hello Everyone! I hope everything is going well with you all...It is so hot and humid here in the south! It is down right unbearable!! Yesterday with the heat index factored in it was...106!!!

I am always looking forward to going to estate sales every week, but when it is this hot...whew..I don't know...It just makes you want to stay home!! I did find a few pretty things to share though......

The best sale was INSIDE....so it was very comfortable to plunder through this wonderful estate full of vintage and antique treasures...above is my favorite find

Not one, but two gorgeous antique purses! Love the little chains, so charming, don't you think? I love the idea of hanging them on the wall. I wouldn't mind

finding more...but less is more right???

This little corner in my daughter's room needed just a little something...

So when I found this antique burlap purse, I knew just where to hang it!

Looks great with the old stack of books, huh?
Sometimes you need to rearrange from time to time, who me?

I am always rearranging stuff, I can't help it! Who could resist

another glass cloche? Especially when Hobby Lobby has their

50% off glassware sale! The perfect size to display on top of

a stack of antique plateau mirrors! Silver and glass, so pretty together!

A little rearranging goes a long way....I brought my iron bench

from my living room into my dining room...I just LOVE it in here!!

I took my primitive chippy wooden bench and put it in my living

room... look in the picture below, what a difference it makes huh?
Clearing off my table...keeping it simple and inviting. I love

my topiaries! I would like to find a couple more for my den!
Lastly, Is this wonderful antique brown transfer ware pitcher!

I have been wanting to blend in some with my white ironstone,

so when I found this one at an antique store for only $25- I just

had to have it! I love how it looks with my little coffee and cake

plates that I got from my friend Sue years ago!! Sue has an online

Won't you come in...Today I thought I would show you my

living room....Above is an old stepback cupboard that is made

of antique railroad wood. The lady we purchased it from said

the previous owner had made it for his wife many, many years

ago. I love antique pieces with history and stories to tell....It

is an awesome piece to showcase your favorite treasures..

Inside is a collection of antique jars, old dolls, Apothecary

Bottles, and my favorite porcelain busts!
An iron bench that I painted white.. with some pillows that I

tea-stained and embellished with lace and rhinestone pins...
One of my favorite little corners to sit and read..

Shades of vintage white, so calming and relaxing...
Becoming a favorite, Is this vintage dress form that I

dressed in a vintage blouse with pearls, pins, & old keys, etc..

Charming display of white McCoy pottery, old bibles, lace,

and my favorite antique metal photo frame!
Upon entering, This is the first display that you will see...

Creamy whites, old statues, clocks, flower frogs, antique framed

prints, cake toppers under cloches, lots of jars filled with

Christmas ornaments, old lace, old string, white buttons, etc..

As you may notice, I love to keep small collections together.

In my opinion, If you keep collections together, it makes more

of a statement, and things do not get lost, mixed in with the larger

pieces..and the best part, if you keep smalls in glass fronted

cabinets, you don't have to dust every little thing!!
Could you tell by now that this so called livingroom..has no couch!

I decided about 2 years ago to make my livingroom more of a

sitting room. Using just my old wicker chairs, an iron bench,

and a couple of bistro chairs for seating....
Lastly, Is my new obsession, I guess you can call it..I love the

hunt for old silver, plated, tarnished whatever the condition..

Especially pieces with old flower designs. Such character and

history behind these old pieces...Well I hope you have enjoyed

Fun In The Sun! Coca-Cola Style!

For the past few days I have been rearranging, cleaning,

organizing, taking junk to my booth, trying to downsize!

One thing is for sure, these things I will never tire of!

Hubby has been collecting Vintage advertising for the past

15 or more years! You could say that this is his obsession!

I have always loved to collect vintage garden treasures,

metal 50's furniture, and old tin toys! The combination

surely brings some fun to a room..my sunroom that is!

Vintage cowboy collectibles, old metal toy trucks,

some circus themed treasures mixed with shabby

chippy furniture, mostly found on ebay, antique

shows, and very few at estate sales....
The best estate sale find was the huge cupboard found

a year ago for only 45.00 you heard me right! Scored big time

on that one! It is absolutely perfect for my sand toy collection!
Vintage Coke machine with Coke coolers & vintage advertising tins!

My tin toy sand pails, shovels, seashells on an old chippy blue shelf!

Dress Form Display!

slim pickings, but to my surprise, I found this vintage

dress form for only $15.00 Not my absolute favorite style

of a dress form, but she does look pretty all dressed up in

lots of vintage lace, crochet, lots of pearls and rhinestone pins!

Dining Room Makeover

My new (old) architectural HUGE cupboard! I just love it!!

Perfect for all my ironstone, old platters, and vintage cake

toppers!

I've been spending a lot of time painting, redecorating,

making pillows, etc..Today I thought I would share

with all of you my progress in my dining room. I have gone

from lots of pinks, florals, barkcloth and tablecloths..to all neutral

colors! It is such a transformation that even I can hardly believe that

I am finally done with it! I will leave you with lots of photos..more work

Hi All...I just wanted to share this wonderful idea for making

pillows! I love to tea-stain pillows, old lace and crochet. So

when I got these two standard vintage shams already tea-

stained from my friend Sue (www.junkinlady.blogspot.com)

I knew exactly how I wanted to embellish them! I just added

a vintage crocheted dresser scarf, some old trim with a vintage

rhinestone pin and millinery flower!

I am working on more pillows..some still in the making! Just wait

until you see these other two I will be posting soon..so pretty! Let me

Ironstone Display & Rose Oil Painting

Two Mantel Re-do's this weekend! Love the old roses print

found on my Texas road trip for a mere 8.00! The Super

large antique oil painting over the bed was a steal this weekend for only

$7.00...Of course it was a lot of work though to make her shine

again. She looked as if she had been stored away for many years!
Isn't it gorgeous! I just love it!
Shades of white...wicker, statues, old crochet, just some of my favorites!
Another mantel re-do...Since I have been running out of room in my

dining room for my collection of ironstone...I had to resort to bringing

some into the living room! I'm loving all the white, monochromatic

I hope you are all having a wonderful day! The weather here
in Georgia is warming up nicely! Time to enjoy the great flea
flea markets, yard sales, estate sales, auctions, whatever suits
your fancy! I thought I would share some pictures for "Pink
Saturday" (Remember, You can click on the pics to enlarge)
Pictured above is an awesome painted sign that
I bought from Jennifer of "The old painted cottage."

Shades of white...chippy white flower basket,
architectural corbels, and white McCoy vases
fill my favorite cabinet for a charming display
sure to please any shabby collector's eye!

Pink chalk ware bridesmaids, vintage pink McCoy vases,

with antique plates that I have collected for years!

White Wednesday

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas, and Santa brought

everything that you wished for! My favorite of all my presents

is my new Nikon camera! Love it! So now I can post better pics

than before! It takes wonderful close-up shots! So here are some

pics for White Wednesday I hope you enjoy!

Recently found old white chippy statue..

Love the patina on this one!
Never enough vintage crocheted tablecloths...all
shades of white and wonderful detailed edges
on each one! I love the way they look just
layered in my favorite market cart!
You think you have seen this picture before,
but look closely..you will spot my favorite
birthday present! At the Scott's antique show,
hubby bought for me these two wonderful glass-
beaded light bulb covers! I have wanted some
of these, but were always too expensive on eBay.
Just before Christmas, I found this wonderful vintage
crocheted tablecloth for next to nothing at an estate sale!
Just experiencing with photo taking and love the antique
black & white look! Don't you? Well, only one more day left in this year!
Out with the old, and in with the new! I sure hope 2010
will be an awesome year for us all.....Happy New Year!!

More Estate sale Finds.....

A rare find, a huge old clam shell, found with a lot of old shells
for only 5.00 for the lot!! I have seen the large clam shells sell
for as much as 200.00! I love how it looks with more vintage
christmas ornaments found for only 2.00!
I finally found a newel post, I have wanted one for the past
3 years, and at last for only 10.00 at an estate sale, I have one!
A few more ironstone pitchers, a small stack of butter pats,
and some old cash register price tags complete this display!
Sweet little white pottery birds found for a song, sitting pretty
along side some of my ironstone collection....

It has been a few weeks since my last post...with the thanksgiving holiday, spending time with family and friends, going junking every chance I get, the time just flies by so fast! I wanted to share with you my most recent finds! This has to be my favorite of all, This alabaster birdbath with birds all around it, was a surprise find, it is just perfect for my two alabaster lady statues! Isn't it awesome when you come across that perfect find to complete a look? I will share more finds throughout the week...hope you all have a wonderful day!

Friday Morning, hubby and I decided it would fun to take a little road trip,

so we drove to Moultrie, Ga for a car show/flea market that he wanted to

check out, Then we were on our way to all the antique/junk stores that we

could find! The best stop we made was to "Alice and Jayne" in Sasser,Ga

A fun and whimsical shabby shoppe with loads of charm!

All decked out for the holidays, Shabby Vintage Style!

In the store window is the most fabulous architectural tree!

They have two shoppes side by side with a garden area as well.

Garden chairs, concrete birdbaths, handmade signs, etc..

When you first enter the store you will be taken away with

all the fabulous architectural finds, old windows, handmade lamps,

The first thing you will see upon entering, is this awesome tree covered in

twinkle lights! So beautiful and inviting! Who doesn't love these vintage

silver aluminum christmas trees! They really are fun to decorate, especially

in graduating sizes as pictured below!

Handmade signs are always a favorite! These two were my favorite!
Great colors and worn chippy paint, it doesn't get any better!

Vintage Finds!

Just a quick post, I thought I would share
a few vintage finds with you today...I just love
this vintage porcelain statue with pedestal
a wonderful find for 20.00!
The vintage white corner shelf was a steal
for 5.00, it was painted a dark green
but I knew it would look great.. once I painted
it white! I love the little scalloped edging at
the top...don't you?

It just makes the perfect display shelf for some
of my white McCoy pottery, vintage hats, and hatpins!

Just a few more finds....Love this old glass battery jar found for

just 3.00! I knew it would be perfect for displaying the lot of

vintage hand mirrors, brushes, etc.. found for only 10.00

for all! What a find! My heart skipped a beat when I found these

all at one yard sale! I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Fabulous Finds~Cloche Displays

I was quite surprised to find these wonderful antique alabaster

statues at an estate sale in my neighborhood for only 150.00 for

the pair! Aren't they gorgeous? They display so lovely, don't you think?

Standing so elegantly and confident on her pedestal!

This gorgeous lady statue weighs a ton...such wonderful
patina and detail!

I just fell in love with this large antique black & white picture!
The frame has such nice detail that you can hardly see, but trust

me, it's gorgeous! Look closely at this picture and you can see a

lovely statue in the background! A steal for only 5.00!

The same wonderful lady that I bought the statues from,

had a lot of old things that were her mother's. Old baby shoes,

lots of antique lace, and buttons, I knew the perfect place to display

it all, in my old glass jars that I posted about a couple of weeks ago!

I hope you are enjoying the pictures so far... I'm not quite done yet!

I thought you may want to hear this...T.J Maxx has some of the cutest

vintage style christmas decor that you have ever seen! They are made

of paper mache, and everything blends in perfectly with your own

vintage treasures!! Look how cute this snowman looks under a cloche!!

This cloche, I have displayed an antique porcelain

bust found for only 10.00 Isn't she lovely!

With most cloche displays, I think vintage

wedding cake toppers look their best under glass

Wouldn't you agree?

Not only cake toppers, I do believe trophys look wonderful

as well under a cloche! This little trophy needed a little boost, so
I added a porcelain pedestal!

One of my favorite cloche displays....I love how this cloche

looks on this silver tray, notice the etching on the glass? I

just think it is beautiful! Well, as always, I hope you have enjoyed

the pictures! I love to read blogs with lots of inspiring photos! I hope

Vintage Medical Cabinet~Bedroom Revamp

Loving my vintage medical cabinet! A recent find
from Salvation Army, of all places, for only 75 dollars!

I never find anything good there, so this was a nice

surprise! I just love everything about it, the style,
size, but most of all the glass doors for displaying

small vintage treasures!

A sweet assortment of vintage vanity treasures, old lace,

vintage rhinestone pins... one of my favs, pretty talcum tins,

old clocks, silver trays and vintage white buttons! With most cabinet
displays, I like to add old sheet music to line the backs!

You can never have enough pretty flowered plates
for the background too!

And of course, one of my most favorite treasures
In my bedroom, is my vintage dress form! She is
wearing a vintage rhinestone tiara, that I just love!
Don't you just love this antique white headboard? It was already
painted from a long time ago, a summer find for only 25.00!
Barkcloth pillows, old mirrors, vintage hats, silver trays,
and some white McCoy pottery are just some of my favorite
things for my room!

Vintage lighting, mmm, another favorite, I just love stuff!
We'll call this my vanity dresser, I use it for displaying
vintage mirrors, a silver tray, some of my rhinestone pin collection, I
have them everywhere, you can find them cheap at yard
sales and estate sales. I don't think I have ever paid more
than 10.00 for one. Most of time they are 1.00 each!

Vintage clothes, hats, and jewelry are pretty much the theme
for this corner of the room! Well, I hope you have enjoyed
your visit and I hope to inspire a lot of readers. I love to
decorate, I guess you can tell by now. I am looking forward
to going to more yard sales this weekend, be sure to check
back in a few days to see what treasures I have discovered!

Apothecary Jars/Store Jars~Old Lace~Estate Sale Finds!!

I found more old jars, buttons and lace and with running out of space to display it all, I brought back to my living room, this old set of library bookcases. I love having a place to create little vignettes. Old lace, different shades of old white buttons, old black & white pictures, tarnished silver plate, seashells, etc..
OOPs! Looks like it's time to buy more tootsie rolls for the old store jar on the end! They don't last long...since the jar is the last thing you see as you are heading out the door!

One of my favorite finds this past Saturday, was this antique crocheted piano shawl! I picked it up at the last sale that I went to for the day...a steal for only $5.00! In perfect condition! A beautiful finishing touch to my favorite dress form!

One of the first finds for the day, was this very lovely vintage sweater with sequins! Another steal for only $1.00 I bought lots of things from this seller.... I am going back for more later this week. She just wants to get rid of stuff! Fun! Fun! I will post later this week of more great finds! Ironstone~Old Lace~Wedding Cake Toppers!

With all the vintage ironstone I have been finding lately, I decided to rearrange a vintage cupboard in my diningroom to make room for it all! ~Sometimes with lack of space, you just have to sacrifice with which things you love the most, and what pieces can be put away for another display on down the road! I decided to put away my vintage aqua trimmed 8 piece place setting, and rose printed homer laughlin dishes, as seen in the last photo, and make room for my vintage white ironstone. Here are some before and after pictures! Ironstone is one of my favorites...I especially love the large pitchers, soup tureens, platters, and creamers. In with the ironstone, I love displaying some of my collection of vintage wedding cake toppers, with it's old millnery flowers and combination of white and cream colors, it all comes together with lots of vintage lace! A while back, I found a huge box of gorgeous antique lace placemats, rolls of lace, runners, crocheted tablecloths etc..for only 10.00! Finally, I put them to use in redecorating this old white cupboard and other areas of my diningroom! You can never have enough antique lace or old crocheted tablecloths! I just love this new look...who says white is not a color, there are so many different shades of white, I just love them all.....

Estate Sale Finds

Just thought I would share with you my estate sale finds for this past weekend. This particular sale(which was held on a thursday) was for an elderly lady, that was being held by her 3 granddaughter's. This lady had wonderful taste, and had held onto a lot of nice things! The best part was wanting to keep everything that I had bought, the somewhat difficult decision was to figure out where I wanted to display everything! There were all kinds of beautiful nippon, bavarian china, ironstone, vintage jewelry, vintage lamps, silver, linens, you name it! The best part, I only had to pay 80.00 for everything! It was so much fun! Then on friday and saturday I did find a few things, but not as much as I did at the first sale. I did however find these two gorgeous 1940's beaded tops for only 10.00 each. I haven't decided, just yet, how I want to display these....any ideas? I just hung them for now, on this candelabra with some of my vintage hats. Let me know what you think. Chippy White Paint~Tarnished Silverplate~Favorites

Today I thought I would share with you one of my favorite combinations....Chippy white paint and tarnished silverplate! Everytime I find a piece of silverplate I am always asked, Are you going to clean it, and the answer is always, No, I like it just the way it is! Don't you agree? Only time and the natural elements can create such beauty! I love to display pieces with anything that has chippy paint....my favorite is this old chippy white mantle top that is in my den...an estate sale find for only 50.oo! I love to collect silverplated teapots, trophys, trays and vases. Every weekend that is the one thing that I look for and know I will find at yard sales. Very affordable and fun to collect!

Awesome Summer Finds!!~Bedroom Makeover!!

It has been an awesome summer when it comes to finding vintage treasures!! It has definitely been too long in between posting, my apologies! I am making up for lost time with some hopefully inspiring photos for you all! I have been super busy with having our home remodeled, painting two bedrooms, redecorating, yardwork, housework, yard sales and most of all spending time with my adorable grandson, family and friends! The time just flies by so fast...I have been wanting to post some pictures, so here they are! I will start with pictures of my newly painted and redecorated bedroom. Before, It was painted a dark green, which I have lived with that color for the past 5 years! Definitely time for a change! I have changed to a very pretty cottage white. Don't you just love all the soothing shades of white? I just love architectural finds, vintage garden treasures, pretty vintage hats, old mirrors, wicker, concrete statues, and so on! I will be posting more often, I promise, I have to show you the 2nd bedroom makeover next! I hope you enjoy the pictures! You all have a wonderful weekend!

Fabulous Finds!

Oh... What a hot and humid month it has been....almost too hot to hunt for treasures! Sometimes you just have to sacrifice the uncomfortable weather to find the things that you love! Yet again...It is an obsession! You find stuff on friday and saturday..spend all week cleaning, painting, arranging and then enjoy looking at all the pretty stuff you bought...and then it is friday again, time to start the treasure hunt all over again~This is just some of my finds for the past two weeks! One of my favorite finds is the vintage white beadboard radiator cover, a 20.00 find... displayed with ornament filled jars, small glass cloche, seashells, old corbels, which I love too, a steal for 20.00 for the pair! I found two pair of those! Check out these adorable concrete statues, found a pair of those with the pedestals for only 30.00! I love old wicker flower baskets, especially the tall ones that stand on the floor, I found this one at an antique mall for only 40.00! Lately, I have had a passion for vintage silver...love these two large trays, found last week for 10.00 for the pair, (Trays are awesome for grouping little treasures together to make a statement) along with the trays came this huge ironstone platter for 5.00! There are great treasures out there to be found and at fabulous prices! I hope you all have a happy junkin trail this weekend!

It was a wonderful saturday morning, when I found this awesome vintage stepback cupboard along with lots and lots of other unusual great finds! This cabinet was an absolute steal for only 45.00! Can you believe it? The couple that I bought it from told me it had sat in the same spot on their huge back porch for the past 36 years! I knew he was telling me the truth when it came time for me to clean it! Ugg! It was so worth it in the end! I love how all my vintage toys and old advertising things look on it! Don't you?

Great Estate Sale Find & Diningroom Makeover!!

Oh my gosh! I can hardly believe it has been more than a month since I have posted! The month of may has been just fabulous for estate/yard sales! The first I would like to show you is the wonderful vintage buffet I got a few weeks ago. Most bloggers start off talking about how they have redone a piece of furniture, a project, etc..Well, Every once in awhile you find that perfect piece that you do not have to do anything to! This is what happened to me....The yard sales were just alright, then decided to go in a different direction, and thank goodness I did! This wonderful buffet with the prettiest etched mirror was just sitting there looking pretty waiting for me to take it home! This is the part that you will not believe! I asked the seller how much, and she said 20.00! Then she proceeded to apologize, for having left some paint around the mirror! Was she kidding? I'll clean it up for the price she was asking! I finally decorated my sun porch the way that I wanted. I had to use the porch for storage for some furniture I was wanting to sell. I finally took it all to a thrift mall that just opened up. I wanted to show you all what fun it is to blend Barkcloth curtains with vintage sand pails, garden stuff, chippy painted furniture, and vintage advertising! I am headed out the door to find more goodies. I will share those photos with you tomorrow. I hope everyone has a fun day!

~~Dress Form Divas~~

Dress forms are fun to dress with vintage finds from estate sales, yard sales, and flea market finds! Whenever I find vintage jewelry, millinery, and vintage clothes, it's great to layer items on them! You can never have enough embellishments! This J.R Bauman dress form with the cage bottom is my favorite. Believe it or not I found it at Goodwill for only $35.00 The second picture is how I have it dressed with my favorite pink roses apron. The third pictured is a form that a customer brought to me to sell, when I had my own antique store a few years ago. She just knew I would love it, and sold it to me for only $40.00 Included with the form was the 1920's all beaded flapper dress and glass beaded antique hat! What a great deal! The last of my dress forms (pictured above) that I found at a yard sale, I just decoupaged vintage barkcloth fabric to her and added a vintage hat, different strands of lovely pearls, and draped some beautiful vintage lace over her shoulders. I love them all, it is hard to pick a favorite, but I believe I have them in order of favorites. If I should come across another dress form, I will just have to add it to my collection! They really make a lovely statement to any room in your house!

Just wanted to wish everyone a happy spring day! I thought I would share some springtime colored displays and some of my vintage easter bunnies! The set of three bunnies I believe that they are old 1940's cake toppers! I found them at an estate sale for only $1.00 for all three! I just love how cute they look on my vintage pink shelf! Displayed with some of my Mccoy pottery is my favorite 1920's wooden bunny cart! I adore the colors and the chippy paint! I am always on the lookout for vintage pastel quilts, toys, little girl dresses, and lots of pink easter bonnets, and just about anything else that is vintage pink! Today, I thought I would show some before and after pictures of one of my favorite cabinet displays. Before I had my livingroom in a cowboy theme/vintage garden....with primitives, painted furniture, roy rogers collectibles, and lots of other vintage cowboy stuff. It is all cute, but I decided it was time for a change. A very welcoming change. I kept most of my primitives & vintage garden, but put away most of the cowboy things. Now in my cabinet I have some vintage ironstone pieces, old porcelain dolls, old apothecary bottles filled with vintage white buttons, vintage binoculars, old glass store jars filled with vintage christmas ornaments, etc..I also lined the back of the shelves with old sheet music, I will be listing some of this old sheet music and lots of other great finds on ebay this week! Cozy Cottage Diningroom Makeover

I can't believe I haven't posted in almost 2 months! All this time I have been totally busy re-arranging almost everything in my house! It has been a lot of work, but very rewarding! I thought I would share with you my diningroom makeover. Before, I had a large primitive farm table that overpowered the room, with no room to move around. So I brought in from my porch, the cutest little white farm table! Now everything I love is much more noticable. Always give your favorite things room to shine! I know it is hard to do when you have a small house and too much stuff! I have de-cluttered, cleaned, and organized everything. I should be listing some things on ebay someday soon! My 50's Cottage Kitchen

Today's post is for my friend Rosemary (Retro-Rosie)...She has always loved my kitchen. So here are some pictures I know she will like! I love to collect vintage tablecloths, vintage aprons, french enamelware, old 50's Coca-Cola/Dr.Pepper soda signs, plaid tin picnic-baskets, advertising jars, trays, jadite, juice glasses, etc.. Most everything I have in my kitchen I have found at the former Lakewood Antiques Show, Estate sales, and Yard sales. Just this past saturday I found a coca-cola cooler from the 50's, hardly used, almost in mint condition for only $80. It books for $450. Wow! What a deal! It is now displayed at the top of my stepback cupboard in my kitchen! I also found more jadite to add to my collection, some tablecloths, etc.. A few weeks ago, I found this great old chippy painted rack with 4 old hooks, super cute to display my flowered bib aprons on! I just love it! Well, So long for now...Have a wonderful day!

Antique Trophy's & Ironstone

Just this week I rearranged my entire den! I have never posted pictures of my den before. It stayed the same for many years, mainly decorated with my husbands extensive pottery collection, oil paintings, primitive milk painted furniture, vintage garden treasures, etc.. Which sounds all great, but I decided it was time for a little change! I grabbed up all my vintage & antique silver trophys, vases, teapots, a silver bridal basket, ironstone pottery, an antique crazy quilt throw, framed black & white antique pictures, statues, an antique table that has been stored away for a long time, etc...You get the idea! It was very exciting to see it all come together! I hope you enjoy the pictures! Now on to another project.....Have a great weekend junkin!!

Hidden Treasures* Pretty Display!!

Today I thought that I would share some decorating ideas! Hidden treasures around my house...I found this shabby advertising display rack in my backyard..gave it a dusting off and had fun decorating it with hidden treasures..what I mean by that is, there are always vintage treasures around the house that you haven't decided just yet where to put them. ~Yard sale decorating..gotta love it! I found the display rack a few years back at a flea market for $5, I needed to use the rack mainly for displaying my vintage barkcloth fabric stash, that I just recently found at a yard sale for way cheap! I added a gorgeous old ironstone pitcher with flowers, a vintage rose hatbox (freebie) with a bowl of vintage buttons sitting on top, added the glass lamp I acquired from a friend..I just added the frilly vintage shade! I just love the vintage prom dress I got at an estate sale for only $2 ! It is so pretty! Lastly just added some great old books, some vintage jewelry! Fab Weekend Finds!!

Hi Everyone~I recently had the pleasure of helping my friend Carol. She needed someone with lots of time on their hands and plenty of energy to clean out two of her storage units and two sheds in her backyard. It is always fun helping her. I do all the work in trade for treasures. I helped her set up everything for her to have a huge yard sale! It was lots of fun! We will most likely be doing this again real soon. I can hardly wait!~So here is a list of the treasures I got in trade.(Not all pictured, so many to list, I will save for another post)..I got lots of vintage tablecloths to add to my collection. Here are some of them displayed in my diningroom. I got a few cute baby things, that are so adorable! A really cute headvase, little josef original figurines, lots of rhinestone pins, a great old cement statue fountain, lots of vintage buttons, and a huge box of juice glasses, and the list goes on & on! I will post more of my finds a little later. Oh my....There were so many yard sales saturday..it was unbelievable! I found a lot of barkcloth curtain panels, which I absolutely love!! A barkcloth covered lampshade, that looks so pretty in my bedroom! Also, a super cute ice cream tall chair, that looks awesome in my sunroom! I love this french style bench I got too for only $20! I plan to recover it with the one of the barkcloth panels that I got, that I have displayed on it! So pretty, don't you think?! So many more treasures that I will save for the next post!
